Venus Williams Takes Wimbledon
Venus Williams won her fifth Wimbledon singles crown after defeating sister Serena, 7-5, 6-4 on July 5, 2008.
This was the seventh time the sisters competed against each other in a Grand Slam final. No doubt the win was especially sweet for Venus because with the exception of the 2001 US Open, Serena had always come out on top, including two previous Wimbledon match ups.
