Son Calls Gladys Knight Mentally Incompetent

Last month Gladys Knight sued to have her name removed from son Shanga Hankerson's Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles restaurant chain and the return of her memorabilia after he was arrested for suspicion of theft and money laundering [click here if you missed that].

Timbaland Suing His Label

Music producer Timbaland is suing Blackground Records claiming they're jealous of his success as a producer and performer and accuses them of contacting other labels to tell them not to hire him and of stiffing him out of money. Timbs wants out of his contract plus monetary damages. Blackground is owned by Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson and has also been sued by Toni Braxton for practically the same thing. Toni later dropped her suit.

Toni Braxton Loses Her Lawsuit Against Barry Hankerson

Toni wanted ten million from Barry for ruining her career, instead she had to return a $375,000.00 advance and Barry gets royalties off her next CD.

The lawsuit accused the Barry of putting his financial interests ahead of Toni's and inducing her to leave a lucrative deal with Arista through fraud, deception and double-dealing.

Barry, on Tuesday, disputed those allegations.

"She was dropped from Arista because of record sales," he said, adding that Toni did not want to move to Blackground Records but "there was nowhere else for her to go."

barry said his relationship with Toni soured because of her insistence that she involve her husband in her albums.

Toni Braxton Drops Her Suit Against Aaliyah's Uncle

Remember that lawsuit Toni Braxton filed against her former manager, Barry Hankerson, claiming he wrecked her career by presuading her to leave Arista Records to sign with his label, Blackground, and then when she tried to fire him, he tried to sabatoge her career? Sounded like a strong case to me, I mean her career is pretty wrecked. But anyway, when the judge asked Toni to justify grounds for her lawsuit, Toni was unable to come up with anything and dropped the suit altogether.

Toni Braxton Barry Hankerson

Toni Braxton is suing her former manager, Barry Hankerson, saying he owes her at least $10 million for maneuvering to have her abandon a long, lucrative relationship with her record company and jump to his own record label.

The suit accuses Barry Hankerson of putting his financial interests ahead of Braxton's and using fraud, deception and double-dealing to get her to leave Arista Records. The suit claims, "Hankerson actively sought to destroy Braxton's relationship with Arista through underhanded `double-talk,' telling Braxton that Arista was not interested in working with her anymore, while telling Arista that Braxton no longer wanted to record for Arista."
