Last week former America's Next Top Model contestant YaYa DeCosta signaled she was ready to talk about her experience on the show [click here if you missed that].
YaYa opens up about making peace with producer Tyra Banks...
Was this necessary to bring after all these years? Folk's love bringing up old tea for attention. Now how is this going to help your career and growth?
She captured my attention and even with my short attention span I actually watched the whole thing. I can't stand Tyra. She's always come off as fake from day one. Yaya is not only physically but spiritually beautiful. I'm glad she cleared the space she needed to move, forgave Tyra, forgave herself and did so very eloquently.
While Yaya was successful in modeling, that trauma is probably why she skedaddled onto acting.
Personally, I think the industry is cut throat and tough as hell because of all the competition. And while I won’t excuse Tyra and her panelists behavior, if the ladies couldn’t handle them, then they wouldn’t have made it in the Hollywood. That’s probably why a few ladies, including Yaya, went on to be successful, but none of them are supermodel status.
Honestly, I thought Tyra was the most decent person on that kind of show compared to Diddy on MTB, Simon on American Idol, and Kimora and Russell Simons on their reality show. Iykyk.
10:46 let me correct myself Simmons* but yeah, they were nothing nice to their staff/interns working for Baby Phat/Phat Farm. They were always hollering at them and Russell would cuss them clean tf out. Kimora was no better.
The modeling industry is dried up anyway. These brands are attaching themselves to ppl that already have some type of celebrity status. The modeling industry ain't nothing but a high end prostitution ring anyway.
But Yaya is one of the mean girls! Yaya, You were so NASTY to all of the cast of "Our Kind of People!" Have you apologized for your actions on that show? Love, One of your Former Castmates!

I agree.

I didn't know. I missed that show.
Well said Yaya and how many of us are still living in the past hurts.

Yaya was always too short to be the kind of model ANTM created they were making.
I've seen YaYa in person.
She's 5'6, 5'7ish. I'm solidly 5'10. She's not model height

She's too short for runway but ads she could do along with acting. That's why Tyra had them doing acting bits on the show.
