Othello Sets Broadway Box Office Record

Last year Kandi Burruss and husband Todd Tucker joined the producers group for the Broadway revival of Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal [click here if you missed that].

This week Othello became the top grossing play in Broadway history...

Othello, now in previews at Broadway‘s Barrymore Theatre and starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal had a weekly gross last week of $2,818,297, making the revival the top-grossing (eight performance) play in Broadway history.
The previous record-holder was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which grossed $2,718,488 for the week ending December 31, 2023.
Othello‘s number also improves on its own previous weekly take, when it took $2,637,158 for its first seven previews for the week ending March 2. The production also carried that week’s top ticket price, by far, at $361.90, more than twice the average price of other big-selling shows.
Othello, directed by Kenny Leon, opens Sunday, March 23, for a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, June 8 at the Barrymore.

Would love to see this but I don't have Denzel as Orthello bucks.

Why are the names mis matched? Is that you snitch? LOLO
That's good for Broadway since they are doing poorly and good for DW since Gladiator 2 didn't do as well as expected at the movies

^That's not on Snitchy, that's the official poster. Looks like a big mess to me. Denzel gets top billing so his name has to come first, but IDK why his photo isn't under his name. Maybe one of the legal or marketing heads can chime in.

Washington has acting skills, every play he has been in on the great white way has made $$$$$$$$
