It is illegal to return worn clothing because that is unsanitary, Just because people get away with it sometimes does not make it legal. And if you're going to try to do it, please make sure the item is stain and fragrance free. That's the least you could do. (Yeah, stylists do it all the time but that's because they have either a relationship with the store or with the brand. And they try to return items in pristine condition.)
Some folks get off on trying to pull one over on somebody. He could afford the jacket. He just wanted to get away with not paying for it. He has a poor mentality actually complaining about not getting away with hood $hit because he's rich and famous. Take the sour with the sweet, bum nigga.

Too stupid to know he was doing something wrong. Stores are not in business to let you borrow clothes for an occasion, then return them used and get your money back.
Yeah so now I'm convinced Halle a special kind of stupid for dealing with this bum. If he couldn't afford to keep the jacket he should have hired a Stylist and they would have done a loan out. Simple as that. But he bought it simply for that video got it all smelly didny even gave the sense to dry cleaning before he brought it back. Bum. I would suggest hiring a creative to make something unique for him, but he'll probably treat them worse than he did the retailer and the salesperson.
