Celebrating Mary E. Bowser an educated free Black woman who returned to the South and posed as an enslaved person to spy for the Union Army and helped end the civil war...

I have never heard of this woman and I feel some kind of way about it

She took a big chance of being put into slavery for real. I wouldn't have done it. She was a very brave woman.

Was taught about Mary E. Bowser in grade school and glad I had knowledge of her.

Nice post. It’s a reminder to not let the next 4 years wipe out what our ancestors worked/died for in the UNITED states.
