TV Bailiff Renard Spivey to Speak Publicly for the First Time Since Beating Murder Case

Six years ago TV bailiff, Renard Spivey, from 'Justice for All with Christina Perez,' was arrested for the murder of his wife Patricia Spivey [click here if you missed that].

Now Spivey is set to talk about the case on CBS's '48 Hours' after he was found not guilty...

A former TV show bailiff and veteran sheriff's deputy who was accused of murdering his wife has spoken for the first time about what happened on the dreadful night.
Renard Spivey, best known to viewers as the bailiff on 'Justice for All with Judge Christina Perez,' was arrested for the 2019 over the shooting death of wife Patricia Spivey, 52.
Responding officials found Renard with a gunshot injury to his leg and Patricia, with multiple entry and exit wounds, in a closet. She was declared dead at the scene.
At the time, the former Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy told a 911 operator that he accidentally shot his wife during a fight over a gun.
In his first-ever interview with CBS's '48 Hours' contributor Natalie Morales, Renard has revealed what allegedly happened on July 27.
According to the 63-year-old cop, the couple were already having marital trouble due to lack of intimacy.
On the deadly night, Renard claims he attempted to kiss her but Patricia turned her face away while she was on her phone.
Seconds later, when he tried to approach her, she turned her phone away so he could not see the screen.
'And every time I walk over to her, she turned her phone down and then I was trying to kiss her. She said, "I'm not kissing you".'
During the interview, Renard explains that her decision to hide her phone from him left him disturbed and curious.
As a result, he took her phone from her nightstand and took it into the closet when she fell asleep.
However, he soon saw Patricia standing at the doorway of their closet with a gun in her hand - demanding that he return the phone.
'And then when I turned around and saw her finger on the trigger, I was scared for my life,' Renard told Morales.
The former deputy went on to tackle the weapon out of his wife's hands but instead shots were fired during the struggle.
'Everything happened so fast. When I grabbed the top of the weapon, she pulled back with a finger on the trigger and it went off and shot me in the leg,' Renard recounted.
He went on to claim that the firearm went off twice more and ended up hitting Patricia in the arm as well as the chest.
Renard then called 911 and told the operator, 'Shots fired' while Patricia was still breathing.
He also told Morales that he attempted chest compressions while the operator guided him.
'It was really emotional because the thing is that it's my wife, you know? And you try to save your wife and you've been shot.' he said.
During the interview, Renard also claimed that they had argued the same day and Patricia had asked if he was having an affair.
'I told her no, that's crazy,' he recalled.
While he waited for trial, his attorneys requested bail that was set at $50,000.
Renard made bail and was released on the judge's conditions, including barring him from attending Patricia's funeral.
'That's my wife. I was in love with my wife. Why not be there? I just wanted to pay my respects. That's all.' Renard said.
He was found not guilty of all charges by a jury in December 2023.
The episode will be airing on January 11 at 10/9c on CBS and Paramount+.

@8:23 that's the crazy part! Even dude on the show said he didn't look happy about being married, then this happened! I need to see what evidence made them say not guilty.

It already aired. He definitely got away with cold blooded murder and the cops helped by doing a piss poor investigation. He said he was on “medication” he claimed was prescribed and that affected their “six” life. I believe she was leaving and he did what unhinged brutes do and she died. He should be in the slammer.

His whole alibi sounds like BS. I can't imagine what her family is going through knowing this demon got away with it.

He's a roid rage liar. Cops helped him get off.

Too bad none of you were picked to be on that jury cause obviously more than a few people believed his story.

1 :41, Do you know how easy it is to guide a jury? Lol They always try to select the scariest and most imbecilic jury candidates while dismissing critical thinkers. You didn't know this? The man shot her MULTIPLE times. He had issues. I saw the original story where he was given 14 years but I knew they were going to find a way to get him off because of his deep ties there. Black women seldom get justice but God will get him.

I just realized the comedian on that episode of the show is the late Robin Harris' nephew, Shawn Harris.
