Drake's Legal Team Responds to Spotify

Last week Spotify fired back at Drake's lawsuit accusing Spotify and Universal Music Group of artificially inflating the streaming numbers for Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss track, "Not Like Us [click here if you missed that]."

Drake's legal team responds...

In a statement to Billboard later on Friday, Drake’s legal team (from the law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher) said: “It is not surprising that Spotify is trying to distance themselves from UMG’s allegedly manipulative practices to artificially inflate streaming numbers on behalf of one of its other artists. If Spotify and UMG have nothing to hide then they should be perfectly fine complying with this basic discovery request.”

Just comply and keep it moving. We know how numbers get exaggerated. NLU is a clown @ss song. It’s divisive and contradictory. Kendrick fans and Snitch trying real hard to pump up his latest album but I haven’t heard much elsewhere & you know why?
Because low vibing people who love negativity boosted him up and had people listening to Kendrick’s other music and was underwhelmed.

2 :06, Even 50 cent saw the bamboozle the record execs performed on Drake. They set you up high and then cast you down. Kdot was just used to perform the trick. Basically, Drake has made the label billions and now they want a new icon because Drake wanted to be paid his worth during the new contract negotiations.

They likely decided to break Drake for knowing his worth and instead of there being your normal rap beef, they let fellow label artist Kdot do a whole annihilation tour even using NBA stars to crucify Drake. Kdot doesn't realize that they will eventually do the same thing to him.

The song TNLU is stupid. No descent record label would allow their artists to be attacked a full year by a fellow label mate. Think about that! Execs are doing that on purpose. They want to drive Drake to harm himself and they will make even more money of he does. Turn him into a Tupac, Biggie, Whitney, or MJ. Kdot is too gullible to see it.Drakes trouble allegedly began during contract negotiations.

2 :06, Do you know I have never once heard the They not Like US song? I don't hear it on the radio, in stores, or even online. So I think the numbers are inflated. I think Snoop, LeBron, and the others are industry cats sent in to help perform the trick like Kdot is great when he's mediocre. O don't trust any of those pawns. Snoop even wore the Baphomet at the Olympics. I don't like Drake's music either but it's obvious what's happening to him. He's stayed around too long.

2 :52, I am not a Drake fan or modern rap fan, period. Modern rap sucks and so you are absolutely WRONG. Just because I can see the industry for what it is doesn't mean I'm a fan of Drake. Seeing a label let two Black male fellow label mates fight is disgraceful and would NEVER happen to their white artists. Do you think they'd let GaGa and Swift go at it or any of their many YT male artists or is ignorance reserved for Blacks? Think about it.

Thank you for being awake @6:8PM. Sheep stay sleepy.
I've never spent a dime on a Drake album and could GAF about Kendick Lamar. I may have heard NLU in full one time and don't understand the hype. His voice is whiny and I can't even grasp half of what he's saying. Drake's an actor who put on the best performance ever as a hip-hop artist. They both suck in their own way but I know a rat when I see one.

Y’all proved my point. Nobody listening to it anymore because it’s a banger. You’re playing it just for negativity. 😂😂😂😂. Pretty much how black people role! Nothing ever positive.
