Hell's Kitchen Star Kecia Lewis Calls Out Patti LuPone

Kecia Lewis, the Tony Award winning cast member of Alicia Keys's Broadway play, "Hell's Kitchen," calls out Broadway vet Patti LaPone after accusing her of bullying the Hell's Kitchen cast...

The Booth Theatre, where Patti LuPone is starring in The Roommate, is around the corner but in the same building as the Shubert Theatre where Hell's Kitchen is performed.

I READ THIS EARLIER ON BLACK AMERICA WEB, OR THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWS.
IT SOUNDS AWFUL. MAYBE SHOW WAS HURTING THE SENSITIVE EARS OF MS. LUPONE.
I'M GLAD SOMEONE CALLED HER OUT FOR HER ALLEGED COMMENT.

I like Patti. She's a bully, but she's gotten some raw deals on broadway. Still, she has to be slapped by someone every few years. I'm glad a sister check her this time. Good on Ms. Lewis.

She won't get an apology, but she made her point and I'm here for that.

Can the sound enginee s correct it?

@12:09. You would think so.

Their theaters are next door to each other and the sounds from Alecia Keye's show were so loud they were coming through the wall? Why is making a complaint about this a racial microaggression (that's how Kecia Lewis described it)? If the sound was bleeding through the wall it is not just a complaint about Black people being noisy.

Hmmmm, this is tricky. I watched the video and certainly did not like the way Patti LuPone made that nasty comment saying she was not going to sign a Hell's Kitchen Playbill because they're too loud. What kinda ish is that!? That was effing rude but I also find the way Kecia's responded online with a video weird too. Very passive. Why couldn't Kecia be a professional adult and go straight to Patti directly? Have a meeting with the stage director and laying it all on the line would have been my choice. Patty appears to be a big bully and clearly throwing her weight around to be bossy. The theater is loud and musicals are even louder but Patty should get over it! Is Patty a racist? I'm not sure about that but she does appear to be a major a-hole.

Why does Patti need to get over it? If you think it's too loud and hurting your production, say so. Is the Black show above criticism?

Seeing a lot of fake theatre goers in the comments. Ms. Lewis made this to call out Ms. Patti's passive aggressiveness. Ms. Lewis mentioned that they adhered to Patti's complaints and had the sound engineers adjust the sound to which Patti thanked them and sent flowers with "love". But yet after the accommodation, she still decides to call them "loud".

I actually am a Patti LuPone fan. That YT woman got skills💯 She's a Diva, but she can back it up. Most of these Broadway shows play in old buildings that haven't been properly serviced leading to leaked sound and the sound man probably did have the sound too loud to add on to it. Most plays I have been to, I have heard sound leak from the hall next door. It's definitely an issue. They probably just adjusted it, so Patti still salty. You know arts are sensitive which it seems on both sides. Broadway is seriously on life support. It's a big draw for NY so you would think they would treat and upkeep these theaters with more respect especially for the tourist money they bring into the city.

I love Patti but she has always been a bitch, in a good way. If someone in her audience has their phone open she will stop the show until that phone is put away. Diva Diva Diva.
Don't understand why someone would think her behavior had something to do with micro aggressions against Black people. Wasn't nothing more than the usual Broadway bitchface.

MAYBE IT'S TIME FOR THE DIVA BROADWAY B!TCHFACE TO BE CHECKED FOR ALL THE DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA SHE CAUSES OTHERS.

I believe it. Back in 89 I worked at a restaurant that was across the street from The ACT Theatre and I met Oatti Lupone. She’s not the warmest person.

These theaters are over one hundred years old. The sound systems of today are bigger and louder than yesteryears productions. This problem should be the responsibility of the owners. Having two women that work for the producers should not happen. PL is an old bat that thinks her Sh!t don't stink.
