Black Panther 3 Will Be One of Denzel Washington's Final Movies

Back in August actor Denzel Washington hinted that he was winding down his acting career [click here if you missed that].

Now Denzel is being more direct...

From Variety
Denzel Washington revealed in August that “there are very few films” left for him to make at this stage in his Oscar-winning career, but now he’s revealing that “Black Panther 3″ is one of them. Speaking to Australia’s “Today” while on the press tour for “Gladiator II,” Washington said that director Ryan Coogler is writing him a role in the third “Black Panther” film. It will be one of Washington’s final movies along with a new Steve McQueen project and a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Othello.”
“For me it’s about the filmmakers. Especially at this point in my career, I am only interested in working with the best,” Washington said. “I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”

Wakanda forever.

For me it’s about the filmmakers.

Thank goodness he never did a Tyler Perry film. I don’t think I could stomach it! The only reason why other black actors work with Tyler is the obvious….. money. Those top filmmakers aren’t paying what they pay Denzel Washington and Halle Berry. I know if Halle does a Tyler Perry film I will fall out!
I salute Mr. Washington for giving us memorable roles that we won’t ever forget! A powerful actor!

I WONDER WHAT CHARACTER HE'LL PLAY.

Along with Samuel L Jackson, he is one of my favorite actors that is around that retirement age.

Good on, Denzel. He's given us so much. Retire and enjoy!

I hope Ryan Coogler sticks to the original concept because Black Panther 2 was disappointing.

I don't know how Tyler Perry got dragged into this conversation but his new show on Netflix, Beauty is Black will get you hooked. Does anyone know when we're getting Part 2 of Beautify in Black?

Why not go out with a bang. He has nothing else to prove. We have a few Black male actors that are leading men. There will never be another DW. If a really good role comes up, he will come out of retirement for it.

@11:06 Denzel isn't the only one who won't roll with TP. Samuel Jackson is another one. TP won't even hire writers. No one WANTS to be in his films, they're only in them because they don't have many options.

Tyler Perry did an interview and boasted about how he gave Idris Elba and Viola Davis their first big movie roles. They’ve both gone on to be big actors and contenders. TP stole the Alex Cross role from Idris to undermine him, a using his clout. Alex Cross sucked because TP doesn’t have that leading male role factor! He’s good at giving you the gossip of the black community. I don’t ever hear of producers that Viola worked with saying they are the reason she is who she is. They give her respect and praise of a phenomenal actress.
Spike Lee never boasted about giving Denzel Washington his break. Denzel delivers in EVERY role so much so that directors speak about how he brings his characters to life. How he has everyone holding their breath or just be in awe of a great actor! Antoine Fuqua speaks so highly of Denzel and his unexpected ability to not see Denzel but the character.
I know Denzel respects Tyler as he has achieved huge success. Just calling out how Denzel never put on a dress or portrayed gay characters or did movies with gay narratives. That’s all!
Bravo to Mr. Washington! Mr. Samual Jackson as well.

12:56 - Tyler Perry did not give Viola Davis her start. I'm not doubting he said that, but it's simply not true. Please do your research before speaking untruths in any comment section.

Wakanda III? I will not be watching. I never saw Wakanda and didn’t even know there was a sequel, let alone a third movie coming out.
