Judge Argues for the Release of Man Convicted in Murder of Michael Jordan's Father

Back in 1993 NBA legend Michael Jordan's father was murdered in a botched robbery after falling asleep in his car.

Now the judge who presided over the case wants one of the men convicted to be released...

From NBC
The North Carolina judge who presided over the 1996 murder trial over the killing Michael Jordan’s father petitioned the state’s parole commission to release one of the men convicted in the case.
Retired Judge Gregory Weeks on Tuesday called for the release of Daniel Green, who was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of James Jordan, a North Carolina Department of Corrections communication officer confirmed. Green and his co-defendant, Larry Demery, were convicted of killing the basketball legend’s father on July 23, 1993, during a botched robbery. Both were 18 years old at the time of the murder.
Details about Weeks’ petition were not available as parole commission hearings in North Carolina are confidential and not open to the public. Weeks and Michael Jordan did not return requests for comment.
Prior to the murder in 1993, James Jordan was sleeping in his red Lexus along a North Carolina highway when he was shot. The car was gifted to him by his son, who at the time had led the Chicago Bulls to the first three of his six NBA titles.
His body was found in a South Carolina swamp days after the killing and was identified through dental records.
Green was found guilty of murder during the commission of a robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to The Associated Press. Demery testified that Green pulled the trigger and killed James Jordan. Demery pleaded guilty to first-degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, and like Green, received a life sentence.
Green has always said he did not kill James Jordan but admitted to helping dispose of the body.

Stop killing people. Stop robbing people.

That guy looks crazy in the head and if he's released, I wouldn't be shocked if he did this again to another family.

NOPE. THIS SHOULDN'T EVEN BE AN OPTION.

Dick Gregory said both men never committed the crime and were just framed. It was some big powerful people who did it according to him and it had to do with shaving basketball points. I don't know but that's what he said, the 18byr Olds allegedly never did it.

I agree with @11:48 AM

Dick Gregory may have been on to something and his theory may have even been true, but I would need someone to prove it before I believe these men were framed.

Michael demanded that someone be convicted. It was a frame up. Plus Michael's father was evil. Michael's sister claimed on Oprah that the father molested her.

Looking like Dr Umar

I don't know about that, 12:21pm, 1:44 pm, & 1:49 pm. The Late Great Dick Gregory ain't here to confirm what y'all assumptions are either

@1:49 PM, I heard/read about that a long time ago, and allegedly he used his connections to prevent her from publishing her story because it would hurt their mother.

That's an "allegedly" @1:49 pm
No one knows or knew these people personally.
One can't speak these things as truth when the accused isn't among the living to defend himself.

From what I’ve heard about Weeks.. his judgement can be trusted. He is with any bs.

Everyone back then said it was a sacrifice. Newspaper articles actually showed his body laying on the branches. Even though those same newspapers had already stopped showing death photos and haven’t shown death photographs since.

Michael’s Father was a Mason, high in the order and his Mother was an Eastern Star.

Mr Jordan was found unalive in his car parked on the side of the road.
I was alive during this unfortunate event & every news show & newspaper reported this.

Sometimes DG made alot of sense, then other times he sounded like an angry old man who had an insane amount of respect from other comedians & celebrities.
Chris Rock once said he was Scared of DG/scared when CR saw him heading (CR's) way.
