Nelly Sued by the St. Lunatics Over Unpaid Royalties

St. Louis rapper Nelly sued by his former rap collective, The St. Lunatics, claiming they were screwed out of royalties from the Country Grammar album...

Members of his St. Lunatics crew - childhood friends from St. Louis - now say he "manipulated" them into thinking they'd be paid for their alleged work on the album.
Decades after Nelly released his chart-topping breakout Country Grammar, he’s facing a new lawsuit over the album from his St. Lunatics groupmates – who claim that the star cut them out of the credits and the royalty payments.
In a complaint filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court, attorneys for the St. Lunatics allege that Nelly (Cornell Haynes) repeatedly “manipulated” them into falsely thinking they’d be paid for their work on the 2000 album, which spent five weeks atop the Billboard 200.
“Every time plaintiffs confronted defendant Haynes [he] would assure them as ‘friends’ he would never prevent them from receiving the financial success they were entitled to,” the lawsuit reads. “Unfortunately, plaintiffs, reasonably believing that their friend and former band member would never steal credit for writing the original compositions, did not initially pursue any legal remedies.”
The case was filed by St. Lunatics members Ali (Ali Jones), Murphy Lee (Tohri Harper), Kyjuan (Robert Kyjuan) and City Spud (Lavell Webb). Slo Down (Corey Edwards), another former member of the group, is not named as a plaintiff.

Not caping for Nelly at all, but maybe he got robbed and there wasn't nothing left to pay them. The industry is Evil. I would check with the people above him, they're the ones doing the most dirt.

Nelly should be making sure his boys get paid what they are rightfully owed! I’m sure he’s fighting to get his money. The St. Lunatics are fire and made Nelly more popping !

Nelly recently sold half his catalog for 50 mil, he's also the person that informed Camillionaire back in the day to have his accountant do an audit of the record company, and found out they owed him 600k. So I say this to say this reeks of Nelly not wanting to pay those guys, hopefully a favorable solution will come to fruition.

It's been 24 years. Are the just waking up? I don't care if it's a criminal act or business deal, people need to stop waiting decades to seek justice or go after what they're owed. It takes away their credibility and makes it harder to prove their case. Memories are fresher when the shat just went down and the evidence is fresh.

24 Years later. I know the Midwest is slow but come on now them royalties have gone up in smoke since 2000.
If their names are not on the credits/contract, how are they going to get money that are not in writing.
