Tyler Perry's Divorce in the Black Drives Prime Video Subscriptions

Last month Tyler Perry's 'Divorce in the Black' broke streaming records on Prime Video [click here if you missed that].

Divorce in Black also boosted Prime subscription sign-ups more than any other Amazon-MGM original movie...

From Variety
Tyler Perry‘s latest film “Divorce in the Black” not only drew strong viewership — Nielsen reported that it hit more than 498 million minutes watched in its first four days of availability on Amazon Prime Video — but according to Amazon, the soapy drama has also driven more sign-ups to Prime Video in the U.S. than any Amazon MGM Studios-produced movie to-date.
The declaration comes after “Divorce in the Black” made its debut on the Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming chart, where it came in as the No. 3 movie of the July 8-14 viewing window behind Netflix’s “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” and “If” on Paramount+. When divided by the film’s nearly 2.5-hour length, its 498 million-minute total during that window (the film began streaming on July 11) translates to an estimated 3.5 million views.
Luminate’s movies chart also continues to rank “Divorce in the Black’s” progress. The film accumulated 93.2 million minutes watched during the week of July 26 to Aug. 1, its third week on Prime Video.

Tyler Did It Again. I haven't watched it because of the reviews that I have Seen on Youtube & read on Facebook &other Blogs. Also the few folks that I spoke to that saw the movie said the would have passed & it wasn't that good. So I just haven't made time to see it. Tyler's movies are Hit & Miss with me...

Read the room. This man is making millions by portraying blacks as buffoons'. Toxic black male traits are now making him even more millions. That black man was abusive toward his wife and Tyler made millions out of it!! Wake up. Tyler Perry hates black people and black people are stupid enough to keep paying him to show them his hatred.

So what movies should he be making?

Yall are gonna complain no matter what films he makes. Yall did the same thing to John Singleton back in the day, there just wasnt any blogs or social media to amplify your complaints. I'm glad Tyler basically told yall to kiss his @**

If your one and only goal is making money, he can do that. If your goal is to make a watchable movie that makes sense, that seems to be beyond his power. Black audiences deserve more.

Of course it wasn't any good. This nicca refuses to hire talented writers. He wants the writer's residuals as well as the other money he collects. Fuc him and his ign'ant movies.

Some people will watch anything.

I'm going to say this. He has an audience according to his success and numbers. I want knock the hustle. It's not for me though. I would like to see another Greenleaf that was on OWN.

Stupid movie.

Those folks will be cancelling unless they plan on using the online shop. I rarely watch Prime video. Every time I get into a show they cancel it. I do like Them though, but season 2 was underwhelming.

I fast forwarded through half of it. The start of the movie is what hooked folks. It's was crazy and over the top. It was better than his usual fare but I'm tired of the submissive, abused black wife/girlfriend narrative. Enough already!!!!

The movie was lame. But I have seen worse. Tyler has tried other types of movies. No matter what he does people will have a complaint. Tyler has always been over the top with crazy scenes. He’s cashing checks and paying actors well. I would support him just because.
