Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Sha'carri Richardson Were Not Allowed on the Warm Up Track Ahead of their 100m Race

Yesterday Sha'carri Richardson won her first Olympic medal after coming in second in the Women 100m.

Hours before the race, Sha'carri and Jamaica's Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce were not allowed on the warm up track...

According to reports the rules for entry to the warm-up track changed overnight and because Sha'carri and Shelly-Ann were staying outside the Olympic Village they were not notified.

Shelly eventually pulled out of the race altogether and St. Lucia's Julien Alfred took home the Gold, the first ever Olympic medal for St. Lucia.

But Sha'Carri still found a way to enter and won Silver.

Not understanding this story at all. I'll wait for more details.

Did this change apply to ALL of the runners? Did they ALL still have time to warmup?

It was mentioned that they had to walk a distance to get inside too that’s why Shelly Ann pulled out and Sha’Carri didn’t have time to warm up. Sad I didn’t get to see Shelly Ann race but for all the trouble Sha’Carri went thru, taking silver is not bad! She still did her big one. And congrats to St. Lucia!

exactly what I was thinking. All the runners were Black. Sha'Carri was getting in by any means necessary. The warm up probably wouldn't have made a difference. I saw the semi-final race the day before and the St. Lucian woman beat her by a distance so it wasn't surprising that she won the gold medal.

"THEY STAYED OUTSIDE THE OLYMPIC VILLAGE SO THEREFORE WEREN'T CONTACTED" I don't believe that. There is too much social media communication from texts to emails, to tweets to group chats. They also have their representatives from the sponsors. So they had to be in the village to know the path had changed. Don't believe it

Right--I don't believe it either. There's too much at stake for no one to know what was going on. They were notified, but probably underestimated how much time they had and realized they were late when they got there, which is why they were trying to go through the original gate to see if they could get in. If this were really true, you would at least heard something from Sha'Carri complaining but she didn't.
