Martin Prequel in the Works

27 years ago the cult classic sitcom "Martin" went off the air after five hilarious seasons.

Now a 'Martin' prequel is in development...

From Deadline
The Martin cast reunion was a highlight of this year’s Emmy Awards, tapping into nostalgia to bring the 90s sitcom back into the pop culture conversation. The beloved comedy is now looking for a more permanent return with Young Martin, a new hourlong drama series from Martin Lawrence and his production company, RunTelDat, in collaboration with Marvin Peart‘s WonderHill Studios.
The hourlong Young Martin is contemporary origin story centering on Martin Payne, a charismatic teenager navigating the complexities of transitioning from youth to adulthood. It reimagines the character played by Lawrence on Martin, paying homage to the original show, which aired on Fox from 1992-97.
Young Martin‘s dramatic bent resembles the route another signature 1990s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring Lawrence’s Bad Boys co-lead Will Smith, took with Bel-Air, executive produced by Smith.
Set in modern-day Detroit, Young Martin follows Martin Payne, a spirited teenager whose journey is characterized by ambition, humor, and a genuine compassion for those around him. The show will explore themes of family, friendship and life while the young Payne balances on the tightrope between adolescence and adulthood. Martin’s quick wit and magnetic personality draw him into high-stakes situations, where he must confront obstacles, emotions, and ultimately, find his path to success.

Think of something else to do pls. He too old for the nails, makeup, wig and dress. In the back of his mind, he will be thinking of the lawsuit and if he said or did something to hurt her feelings.

Stop we are satisfied with all they gave. RIP Tommy. If Taraji can still get work so can Tisha and Tichina

Sounds like a That's so Raven fiasco. Martin wasn't just a sitcom it was pure comedy, you can't replicate that script buddy. Martin is still funny til this day because of the cast because we only saw them outside of that bar and that apartment occasionally.

Sounds like an Everybody Hates Chris or Fresh Prince rendition. I’d assume if it’s a prequel, then none of the originals will be acting in it bc they need to look younger. Martin can produce just fine and bring in a new generation.

According to a friend of my younger brother, the $700 is nothing in comparison to the millions he has given to Ukraine. Why? We require it, she replied. Because vs03 we don’t know why, it must be it. We possess citizenship.

Not exactly. It’s the entertainment industry making fun of Black women and trans-women.

They want us to fight and hate on each other instead of fighting an industry that green-lights this mess.

Don’t fall for the b/s.

@4:40 You hit the nail on the head.

Yall so silly. Sheneneh wouldn't be in the prequel. She was just a neighbor in his future apartment.
