Ten years ago Bad Boy Entertainment CEO Sean 'Diddy' Combs received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater Howard University [click here if you missed that].

Howard University revoked Sean “Diddy” Combs’ honorary degree Friday and will return his $1 million donation amid the music mogul’s mounting abuse accusations.
Howard’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted to take back Combs’ degree, which he was given by the Washington, DC-based historically black university in 2014, and cut ties with the rapper, the school said.
The board additionally agreed to return Combs’ $1 million donation, disband the scholarship program in his name and terminate all gift agreements with Combs and the Sean Combs Foundation.
“Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

As one who earned my degrees, I have never respected universities who issue honorary degrees. If you want to honor a giver then give them a plaque saying thank you, but don't cheapen higher academia by passing out fake honor that can be rescinded. I don't like Puff, never have, but it's phony to revoke a degree when you knew from jump that his label is called "BAD BOY." You knew his music was vile and demeaning towards women. So what changed? Nothing. This fake outrage is just that, fake.

I never understood honorary degrees. Get the real degree like the rest of us who worked hard and studied. If you want to donate, then make a name tag and place their name on a bench or stool outside the building. That's all anyone that donates deserves.

4 :58, It's fake honor bestowed upon a person based on either how much money they gave or the fame and limelight the school thinks they can bring. It's a disingenuous honor because anything that can be taken back was never truly given. The same fake honor is handed out with frats and sororities who have honorary members like celebrities or someone who they think will bring them attention. They too have rescinded membership to honorary members when they were done using them like the lady with AIDS who was kicked out of Delta after her usefulness died down and noone was talking much about the virus anymore. Honorary honor is really dishonor. Don't let man hand you jack with flattery, go earn what you want.
