The Real Reason North was Cast as Simba?

Over the Memorial Day weekend North West made her acting debut as young Simba in the Hollywood Bowl production of "The Lion King," to mixed reviews [click here if you missed that].

Now insiders are claiming casting North was a stunt designed to get free publicity for the show...

...insiders familiar with the project have revealed the truth about North West's part in it - and how she really managed to land the prominent role of Young Simba, confessing that her high-profile family did in fact influence her on-stage casting.
According to sources, the young star didn't have to 'compete against anyone else' for the part, which came as a result of her family's ties with the production company behind the event, which was held at the Hollywood Bowl last Friday.
North took to the stage to perform I Just Can't Wait To Be King, and received a standing ovation from the audience.
A source has since told DailyMail.com that the Kardashian family's close connection to the producers of the event played a large part in North's appearance.
'The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl and The Kardashians are both produced by the same production company, Fulwell 73 Productions,' the insider dished.
'Gabe Turner, who is a partner in Fulwell, is also the creative showrunner for The Lion King.'
The source continued: 'This was a shoe in for North and she was told that if she can carry a note the gig is hers.'
Fulwell 73 is the production company behind shows including The Kardashians and The Late Late Show With James Corden.
Turner is a partner alongside James Corden, while the former worked alongside Sally Wood as the creative showrunner for The Lion King concert.
The insider added that North's ability to make headlines for her performances was a key factor behind the decision to cast her for the role.
'They were hoping to draw publicity for this, which they did,' the source continued. 'But North didn't have to compete against anyone else and anyone else who would have auditioned would have not gotten it anyways.'
The source stated: 'This is 100 per cent the result of her family's relationship with Disney and with Fulwell.'
Another insider dished that the family planned to feature the moment in upcoming episode of their reality show, seemingly making the performance a win for everyone involved.

"If she can carry a note..."
Well, she can't.

We already knew this. Now tell us something we didn't know.

Nepo babies. From Jamie Lee Curtis to Tracee Ellis Ross to North West and Blu Ivy. They all lack real talent and they take away opportunities that should be given to those who have worked for years to gain a step in the door... Well, I guess bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.

11:06, offspring of stars have a burden to bear and when they are trying to find their place, being products off their environment and having a false sense of entitlement causes their warped perceptions of reality regarding their abilities. They are darned if they do or don’t!!!!

@11:36...Surely, that's not your response to people who are overlooked to accommodate the "offspring of stars."

No one cares that they're damned because they're privileged. That's a problem for them, their parents and their many resources to solve.

In the meantime, dreams are squashed just to make room for Nepo Babies who successes are from their parents' name and not from an ounce of talent. Ugh.

@12:35 Why you screaming at us?
I grew up with some nepo babies and it's up to celebrity parents to ground and educate their children and to make sure they know they're supposed to pull their own weight.

TRASH candy wait for these people to be brought down

@12:08 People being overlooked is not the fault of privileged individuals. We live in a world that caters to them and until that changes, the indifference is misplaced. The individuals that work hard and are qualified are overlooked because of the celebrity status of their peers parents. The system is in need of reform and that is not likely to happen

Nepotism is rampant in every industry--not just Hollywood. The name of the game is to give your child a leg up in life. I've brought several relatives along with me when I was in management. Some worked out, some didn't. You still have to prove you can get the job done. For North, it means filling theater seats.

Filling theatre seats to be laughed at. Pity.

What kind of sick parent would put their child in a situation where they are doing to fail?

I think talent can run thru the veins of some families. Some are musically inclined, some are not....same with acting and performing. Either you have "IT" or you don't. Unfortunately, we live in a media driven society where how ever many followers you have is the equivilant of "talent", when nothing could be further from the truth. Sensationalism will always outway talent. It sucks.

North playing Simba is laughable.....but look....we are all at least talking about how horrible it is....goal reached.

I also want to say that I think Tracee Ellis Ross has some comedic chops. I enjoyed her a ton on "Girlfriends" and "Blackish". She seems to be one of the few though.....in my opinion...

I agree Tracy Ross do have talent and I too also like her in Blackish. Also I don’t care how much you hate Blue Ivy parents, especially her mom, but Blue has talent and you do get to see how hard she works.

Tracy is talented and Blue Ivy is talented.

Blue Ivy didn't take another talented dancer's position. She was an extra that wanted a chance to show and develop her talent.
We are discussing a person/child with no talent in that genre and took a job away from someone that was more talented and rehearsed. I have not seen anything that TR was in.
TI's little Gremlin son can't rap but his other son is not bad at country music. Little Waynes daughter and TI's stepdaughter were just okay in that girl group but wanted to chase sorry @$$ rappers with no careers instead of getting education and impowering themselves. There are other examples. Carry on, etc....
