New charges were filed against Kentrell Gaulden, known as NBA Youngboy, related to a large-scale prescription fraud operation.
Previously, Gaulden was charged with 63 counts from Cache County authorities related to identity fraud, obtaining a prescription under false pretenses and forgery. He also faces charges related to possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, engaging in a pattern of unlawful activity, and possession of a controlled substance.
In the new charges filed on April 26, 2024 from Weber County authorities, Gaulden faces another possession of a firearm by a restricted person felony charge and two counts of fraudulently obtaining a prescription.
On April 30, 2024, Judge Joseph Bean filed a 'warrant for arrest' related to Gaulden, stating "the Defendant is denied pretrial release under the authority of Utah Code 77-20-1 based upon the following facts: U.C.A. 77-20-201(1)(b) Defendant is felony on felony and there is substantial evidence to support the charge. U.C.A. 77-20-201(1)(c)(i) and (ii) there is substantial evidence of defendant’s involvement in prescription fraud and distribution there is clear and convincing evidence that defendant is a danger to the community. In addition, defendant appears to be a multi-state offender with primary contacts in Louisiana and is a risk of flight."
