Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal will star in a new production of Othello on Broadway directed by Kenny Leon. The Shakespeare revival is set to open in spring 2025, with exact dates, a venue, and additional casting to be announced.

He'll be great. I won't see it because I have a low tolerance for Shakespeare.
This man should get more roles than some of his Yt fellow actors. They still keep his star from rising.
He was good as Macbeth on film and I think he'll be better as Orthelo on stage, but Ion't know about Jake Gyllenhaal. He wouldn't have been my first choice, but they know better. I hope it's an iconic role for Denzel.
Whether he's good or not, at least they aren't using a non-Black actor in Blackface or dark makeup for the title role. There is that.
*Othello
Naaaah show a RECENT pic

White people look out for each other duh. If Denzel wants more roles maybe he should reach out to some young Black independent filmmakers and use his money and status get their work distributed.
Denzel works as much as he wants to work. At his age he's not going to do a film unless he loves the script.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention or you just want to complain but several months ago, Denzel just had a blockbuster movie with The Equalizer 3. He's obviously aiming for a Tony with this new Othello role but he's had a significant career in theater. This ain't his first time at the rodeo.
Ill travel to broadway to see this
Lamont Sanford Did It Better Anyways 💅🏿
I love me some Denzel, but isn’t he a bit old to play Othello? Othello was older than Desmonda, but he wasn’t a senior citizen 🤦🏾♀️
@9:06 Lmao true. But it’s Denzel, you’ll be getting so much more in acting and casting prestige that’s he’s a playwright’s dream. A little muscle mass for role wouldn’t hurt though.
