Kelly Rowland dramatically walked out of NBC’s “Today” show on Thursday morning after the star thought her dressing room was not up to snuff, sources exclusively tell Page Six.
The R&B singer and actress was a guest on the 8 a.m. hour of “Today,” and was then expected to fill in for Jenna Bush Hager in the fourth hour as guest host of “Today with Hoda & Jenna.”
Rowland, however, dropped out at the 11th hour because her dressing room wasn’t up to par, and she left Hoda Kotb scurrying to find a replacement, sources told us.
“Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” a source familiar with the situation told Page Six.
Rowland was on the show to promote her new Tyler Perry-produced Netflix movie, “Mea Culpa,” in which she stars and is also a producer.
Rowland’s abrupt exit left “Today” insiders perplexed because, “She’s beloved at ‘Today.’ She was getting the full hour, and Hoda’s the biggest hype woman on the planet! It made no sense,” a source said.
Rowland and her team played a dramatic game of “musical dressing rooms,” we hear.
They inquired about a green room upstairs because “they didn’t like the one she was in.”
Unfortunately, the upstairs room was occupied by Jennifer Lopez, who arrived at the studio before Rowland to promote her new album, “This Is Me… Now,” and her accompanying film project, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.”
We’re told “Today” producers offered Rowland several other options, including multiple talent dressing rooms and some much larger utility makeup and hair areas.
“They didn’t want that. [The show] basically offered up as much as possible, but they weren’t happy with it, so they walked and they left,” the insider said.
Thankfully for Kotb, singer Rita Ora volunteered and filled in for Rowland.
We hear she happily took a dressing room similar to the one briefly occupied by the former Destiny’s Child star.
Reps for “Today,” and Rowland, did not comment.

Looks like hollyweird don't want to respect black women and black people. The narrative out now is that she's being difficult because she left after they gave her a closet for her and her team as a guest host while the guest jlo had a massive dressing room. Black people need to stand on business and demand respect. Taking crumbs is like living in slavery days because of fear if being blackballed

All of the dressing rooms in Rockefeller Center at NBC are small and old but they seem to be good enough for all the mega celebrities who guest on the Today Show every morning. Kelly's little ego got twisted because Jennifer Lopez got a larger space in the Green Room so she left the show without a co-host at the last minute. Not a good move.

Unfortunately in this situation the bigger dress room went to the bigger star. Isn't that something Kelly is used to. She could mess around and blow publicity for a movie nobody was flocking to in the first place if she wants to. Be professional and then never come back.
It’s said most of the rooms are closet sized because the building is old. Now I want to be on Kelendria’s C List side, but I really think in this scenario it was first come, first served. She should’ve pulled up before JLo. Were they supposed to just put JLo out the room because Kelly was having a tantrum? Child bye.

Kelly is a big star WHO can sing. If the room was reserved for her, am sure Jlo could have squeezed big ego into one of the closets since she's so humble. Why expect the guest host and her team who are black to manage a broom cupboard. Kelly has always been humble and unproblematic which is why Today show thought they could get away with the disrespect.
Why didn't Jlo manage the closet? The bigger star IS Kelly. She can actually sing.

JLo got there first, simple. She probably seen the same small rooms and was like, no. Now had Kelly gotten there first, then I would call BS, but they tried to give her something more accommodating and she still refused. Her ego was bigger than her status.

If I'm reading correctly, she was there to promote her new film and at the LAST minute was asked to fill in for Jenna Bush. Sooooo....the use of a "large" green room was LAST minute too. Why would Jennifer Lopez or whomever would need to move to accommodate her?
