I actually went to see the new movie and there was no sexual activity between Celie and Shug. I don't know what made him walk out cuz they downplayed it in the new version. Btw I loved the new movie. Just the right amount of music and a happier ending.
The original CP shoes them kiss, but the new CP shows them in a movie theater (Like a date) kissing and then they wake up in the bed together. THE story was never about her being a lesbian, it was about her never experiencing real love. Mister was doing his business, daddy forced himself on her. Shug was not just a loose women but a god fearing loose women that saw she never had love made love experience real love besides her sister. She wasnt no damn gay.

First of all who takes their children to see this type of movie anyway or musical and I’m saying this, because even if you took out the part about Shug and Sealy liking each other, which was already implied in the original movie, and you just looked at it from a standpoint of the beatings, and the trauma that was in that movie Why would you think it’s appropriate for children to watch it anyway I think he just wanted to say something he probably never even went there
