KeKe Palmer and Darius Jackson Agree to Mediation

New legal documents obtained by The Blast have disclosed that Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson are set to undertake a mediation session ordered by the court.

The move that allows a third party to intervene and help the former couple negotiate a jointly acceptable resolution in their conflict comes less than a week before the domestic violence case against Jackson was supposed to begin.

A new filing has revealed that Palmer and Jackson have agreed to postpone going to court for the domestic violence charges against the latter and give mediation a shot. Per the documents filed with the actress’ legal name, Lauren Palmer, the former lovebirds were scheduled to appear in court on December 5, 2023, at 8:30 am.

To get the postponement approved, the mother-of-one’s legal team detailed in the request that both their client and the respondent “are concurrently filing a Stipulation and Order to continue The Court’s Order to Participate in Mediation currently set for November 29, 2023, and Petitioner’s Request for Domestic Violence Restraining Order, which is currently set for December 5, 2023, to allow the parties time to attend mediation. The parties request that the Mediation and Petitioner’s DVRO be continued on a mutually agreeable date.”

A copy of Palmer’s temporary restraining order was also attached to the rescheduling request. The reason for that, as explained at the end of the filing, was to prove that she “served the foregoing document(s) described as REQUEST TO CONTINUE HEARING DV-115 (TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER) on the interested party(ies) in this action by placing a true copy thereof enclosed in a sealed envelope(s) addressed.”

It was disclosed that a judge had ordered Palmer and Jackson to “Participate in Mediation” in one of the rooms of the Los Angeles Superior Court on the same day, November 9, that the former filed her domestic violence complaint against her ex.

Additionally, the papers stipulated that the Primetime Emmy Awards winner and the “Dawn of the Predator” actor’s mediation, scheduled for Wednesday “shall be continued to a mutually agreeable date.”

The “Stipulation and Order Re-Continuance Agreement of Court-Ordered Mediation and Petitioner’s Domestic Violence Restraining Order Request” further asked both parties to agree that “all orders contained in the Temporary Restraining Order issued on November 9, 2023,” will continue in effect until the scheduled hearing.

Since Palmer had fulfilled the court’s request to “prepare and concurrently file with this Stipulation and Order a DV-115 Request to Continue Hearing and DV-116 Order on Request to Continue Court Hearing” as shared above, the presiding judge, Michelle Kazadi, signed the documents on November 30.

Going into detail about Palmer’s restraining order against Jackson, The Blast noted that the performer accused her ex of “striking her” and “throwing her over a couch.”

She alleged that the father of one engaged in destructive behavior, including damaging personal property, throwing belongings into the street, preventing her from driving by tossing car keys and hitting her in the presence of their son, Leodis.

“Spewing profanities about me to our son, threatening to kill himself with a gun if I left him, harassment, and other physical and emotional abuse,” the lawsuit continued.
