Nicki Minaj Speaks on Past Drug Addiction

This week it was revealed that rapper Nicki Minaj made the cover of Vogue Magazine's December issue [click here if you missed that].

In her interview Nicki speaks candidly about her past addiction to Percocet...

Nicki Minaj is opening up about her experience with addiction.
The Queen of Rap, 40, speaks candidly about her past Percocet use in Vogue’s new December cover story, revealing that she was prescribed the opioid to treat painful menstrual cramps years ago.
“No one told me that this was a narcotic and this was addictive,” Minaj, who began taking the drug even when she wasn't in pain, told the fashion magazine. "Luckily I was able to ground myself. But — once an addict, always an addict. I feel like if you’ve ever experienced addiction to anything, which I have, you always have to think twice and three times about the choices that you make."
In the Vogue story — for which she posed with her and husband Kenneth Petty's 3-year-old son — the “Anaconda” rapper also looked back on how her father Robert Maraj's addiction to crack cocaine during her childhood has informed her perspective on substance abuse. “I feel like I will always consider myself to be just like my father,” she said.
“I think about watching my father go back and forth, and I just wish that at the time I understood that he wasn’t doing it because he wanted to," Minaj (whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty) added. “Now I realize, those people weren’t making those choices because they wanted to hurt their family. Addiction took over their bodies and their lives. They were victims too.”
The performer’s father died in a hit-and-run car crash at age 64 in February 2021.

And she look like she still is. These celebrities age quick. That life ain't all that if you looking 50 at 40. Not envious!

She ain't told no lies.

Now why would a Dr. prescribe her percs for menstrual cramps. Either she lying or the Dr. needs his license revoked.

She has those dead, heavy laden doped up eyes. Drugs cause permanent damage to your body. At least she owns up to what she is......an addict.

Menstrual cramps never require Percocets. Get you a hearing pad and some ibuprofen 800. At the worst a few hydrocodone. That should be a bottle with 5 pills in it. You should never need a prescription of 30 Percocets monthly.

She look old and that wet look on her hair is terrible. Giving aunty vibes.

Ain't no past. She looks terrible and she's on something. She's a gang member so I'm sure she has access to anything she wants like COCAINE. With that big nose

Nicki needs to get clean, it will clear her head. I think she may be self medicating due to all the other traumas she experienced in her childhood. She grew up in a house of pedophiles that her mother protected. That never ends well. She works in an industry that builds then destroys its artists. Severe stress will lead to self medicating too.

As for menstrual pain, people forget menstrual cramps are a mild version of labor contractions. Yes, some women do need strong pain meds to deal menstrual issues. Stay clean Nicki, you have a baby to raise.

Sure, a "doctor" prescribed percocet for menstrual cramps πŸ™„ and you didn't even know they were narcotics. Stop lying lady.

If her menstrual cramps were so severe surgery would have been required for possible fibroids, ovary issues, adenomyosis or fallopian malfunction. Hysterectomies, myomectomies, UFE or hormone therapy would have all been options. No doctor in their right mind prescribes Percocet for reproductive health issues. Do you know how many women would be opioid addicts if they did? She thinks people are stupid? She obviously thinks she talking to just men because women know this is some BS.

@9:46 AGAIN there isn't a scenario where you need high level narcotics for menstrual cramps. That's medical malpractice. If you're in such severe pain you have an underlying gynecological problem. Some Advil and a heating pad is very effective. She was on percs cuz she wanted to be. And she's still on drugs.

I was waiting about the Percocet thing. I had cramps bad and I would use a towel with an iron on top of my stomach. She needs to stop trying to fool people.

I was prescribed Percocets after my c section, so why would her Dr prescribe her the same thing for menstrual cramps. Girl bye

I don’t believe she ever got completely off it. As a person who is in recovery for years and still clean thank the Lord! I can tell you that it takes YEARS te get totally clean off of an opioid like Percocet. There’s no way she just stopped. Heck some addicts have to go on suboxone or Methadone to get off pills just like heroin addicts. And if you do quit cold turkey as they say then you will not feel normal for at least 6 months to a year. And that’s no guarantee when you will feel okay. Ppl stay off drugs! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’―πŸ«ΆπŸ½

It’s the low life entertainment industry, they ALL are addicte even your girl B. Jay has to keep her drugged and she is just like Britney Spears and it’s sad and I don’t look up or a aspire to be them. She may have gotten off the pills but she still snorting powder or drinking

4:21 Jay only likes her up and drugged cause BeyoncΓ© is a very boring person off that stage. Her popularity is why he married her. We know Nikki is always on the wrong side of truth. Look at her husband, brother, and cousin who lied about Covid.

As someone with horrible menstrual cramps, I have thought about asking my obgyn about getting a low dosage narcotic like Vicodin to cope with the pain every month. Right now I average like 8-10 advils a day for 3-4 days. I think that's like 1600mg - but it's the only thing that helps me function - and even still I'm usually very fatigued and achy

I'm amazed at all of the idiots with no medical degrees, up in here speaking like they're experts on treating menstrual cramps. 😁
