A complaint filed in federal court by Cassie, real name Casandra Ventura, alleges early on that Combs "blew up a man's car after he learned that he was romantically interested in Ventura," and it goes on to elaborate that "Mr. Combs frequently reminded Ms. Ventura of his ability to cause serious harm, whether by requiring her to carry his gun in her purse or by blowing up the car of a musician that was romantically interested in Ms. Ventura."

That musician, the suit later says, was Kid Cudi.

The complaint states that Ventura began dating Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, during a "rough patch" in her relationship with Combs in 2011. She alleges that after returning from a trip, Combs discovered correspondence between her and Mescudi and proceeded to attack her.

According to Ventura, she went to Mescudi's house to escape Combs' violent behavior, and one of Combs' employees told Ventura that Mescudi needed "to just talk to" Combs. Ventura says she returned to Combs, who beat her again, and she eventually went to her family's home in Connecticut.

The next year, in February 2012, Combs allegedly told Ventura "that he was going to blow up Kid Cudi's car, and that he wanted to ensure that Kid Cudi was home with his friends when it happened." Around the same time, the suit says, Mescudi's car exploded in his driveway.

In a statement responding to Ventura's complaint, Combs' attorney Ben Brafman said his client "vehemently denies these offensive and outrageous allegations," adding that the lawsuit is "riddled with baseless and outrageous lies, aiming to tarnish Mr. Combs' reputation and seeking a pay day."

Asked by EW about the specific allegation regarding Mescudi and his car, a spokesperson for Combs declined to comment further. A representative for Mescudi didn't immediately respond to EW's request for comment. Through a spokesperson, the rapper confirmed Ventura's account that he had a car that exploded to the New York Times. "This is all true," he said.
