Nipsey Hussle's Family Wins Control of His Daughter's Estate

Last year the mother of Nipsey Hussle's daughter filed to regain custody of her child and control of her estate [click here if you missed that].

Now Nipsey's family has been awarded control of the estate...

Nipsey Hussle’s mother, brother, and sister scored a massive victory in court against his ex-girlfriend Tanisha Foster — with a judge ruling the family will control the estate for the late rapper’s daughter.
According to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, a hearing was held this week in the never-ending war between Nipsey’s family and Tanisha over 14-year-old Emani.
The judge ruled that Nipsey’s mom Angelique, his brother Sam, and sister Samantha will be co-guardians over Emani’s finances, including her $2 million+ inheritance.
Nipsey was murdered on March 31, 2019. He left behind Emani, and a son named Kross, who he had with his girlfriend Lauren London. The only beneficiaries of the musician’s estate were his two children.
Nipsey’s brother Sam was selected to manage the rapper’s estate which was valued at $4 million. Sam believes the estate will bring in another $4.7 million annually.
Following his death, Nipsey’s mom Angelique Smith, his brother Sam, and sister Samantha were appointed physical custody of Emani. The family claimed Tanisha was not fit to take care of the child.
In August 2021, Nipsey’s family filed a petition to be appointed guardians of Emani’s estate, which would allow them to control her inheritance and make investments with her money.
In their petition, the family argued, “Appointing Petitioners as the Guardians of Emani’s Estate will allow Petitioners to invest Emani’s share of the expected inheritance from her father’s estate.”
“Petitioners will manage Emani’s assets prudently and in Emani’s best interests until she reaches 18 years old,” the filing read.
Tanisha objected to the petition. She demanded the court deny the request and allow her to take over control of Emani’s estate – and regain custody.
In her filing, Tanisha claimed at the time of his death, Nipsey and her were on good terms. She said they shared custody, but Nispey took care of their bills because of his “far superior economic powers.”
Tanisha said Nipsey never tried to take legal custody of Emani from her during his lifetime. She claimed the rapper had been paying for her apartment before his death — but his family cut her off after his murder.
Nipsey’s ex admitted she entered into an agreement to allow the musician’s family to have custody of Emani in 2019. However, she said her “motivation for doing so was” due to her “financial limitations” at the time.

What people do for money? It’s not for Emani but Money

How about they all oversee it. Something tells me the fact they want mom all the way out of the mix is fishy.

Marry before you carry. This is what happens when black people insist that marriage is just a piece of paper. It is not. Marriage is legal protection in a situation like this. His ex should have had a plan in place in writing before his death.

I still don't know not one song from this man. How did he make his millions? The streets?

@3:52 I don't either. Not one. I've heard more about him since he was killed than when he was alive.

Whatever…
I knew who he was when I saw them do the GQ couples quiz. After that I was seeing all kinds of cute clips of them together and doing the red carpet. Everyone was mainly interested because people wanted to know who Lauren’s new boo was after people was talking cray about her being one of Wayne’s baby mother. Nipsey had music out that wasn’t of commercial success but the successful rappers knew Nipsey. Wayne, Snoop, T.I., Game and etc., all knew who he was. His music was starting to hit also during that time because he was known for being a mentor to those in the gangs. Trying to get them to read more and to pay attention in how they move.
Stop trying to downplay someone because YOU’RE not familiar with them.

And stop trying to exalt people just because YOU'RE one of a few people who knew of them before they died. I know of ALL those other rappers you mentioned but not him. See how that works?

Although he was not famous worldwide. He was very popular on the West Coast. Many times it is hard for West Coast rappers to be as popular in Rap on the East Coast, Midwest, etc. He owned a clothing line that was very popular and he was very big into commercial real estate, and he taught that to many people That had checkered past like gang, etc. So although not as popular as some of the rappers mentioned. He was a millionaire and instead of signing with a major label, he was known for being an independent artist, and his motto was all money in no money out. Meaning that you make your own product and you sell it yourself and make all the profit was very prolific on the West Coast. But has just started to gain commercial success, nationwide when he was killed. He became a millionaire as a commercial real estate, owner and clothing line owner. His clothing line and clothing store is called the marathon. After his death, it is known as the marathon continues. Although he was dating Lauren in London when he passed away. He had dated several supermodels. Sometimes things are as close as a Google search instead of downplaying a person likes. Miracles and blessings. And I’m not a major fan but the disrespect is bananas.

Who's disrespecting? If someone's unknown or unpopular people have every right to ask questions. And Google can't answer everything, put me in the moment or place me in the present where I can feel the person is making an impact or doing something I can relate to.

... Especially if they're dead and I never really heard of them when they were alive.

Plenty of people heard of him. If you haven't then perhaps you weren't in the know. Clearly the fact that years after his demise, he's still mentioned in pop culture means he made an impact. As an artist and as a business man, he was phenomenally smart. He moved to not only be popular but retain the earnings he acquired. He was huge in California. His funeral was held at the Staples Center. Not just anyone is bestowed such an honor. May he rest in peace.
