British actor Idris Elba speaks candidly about using therapy to break unhealthy habits...

Idris Elba has turned to the help of therapy to help him break an “unhealthy habit” that’s been weighing heavy on his lifestyle.
Appearing on the “Changes with Annie Macmanus” podcast, the British actor, 51, revealed that he sought out therapy this time last year.
“It’s a lot,” he said. “In my therapy, I’ve been thinking a lot about changing, almost to the point of neuropaths [sic] being changed and shifting.”
“It’s not because I don’t like myself or anything like that, it’s just because I have some unhealthy habits that have really formed. And I work in an industry that I’m rewarded for those unhealthy habits.”
The self-described “workaholic” said his love for staying busy with projects has had a negative impact on his wellbeing.
“Nothing that’s too extreme is good, everything needs balance, but I’m rewarded massively to be a workaholic [compared] to someone that’s like ‘Eh, I’m not going to see my family for six months’ and I’m in there grinding and making a new family and leave them,” he shared.
“Those are pathways that I had to be like, ‘I’ve got to adjust.’”

I think there may be other habits he's not revealing and I get it. Whatever the case, I'm glad he's tryna change or adjust for the better and is willing to discuss it. I'm here for this.
Sounds like he's not spending enough time with his wife and she's ready to walk.
I understand his wanting to work because his window to be relevant is not promised as a black man in Hollywood..
Sounds like drugs & drinking might be one. Along with working too much & not spending time with his family.
Drinking? Gambling? Smoking? Women?
Good for him. At least he's willing to try. More Black men should follow his lead because there are some seriously broken brothers out here.
@9:24 All of the above.
Ehh why not when young and dumb. Now 51, it catches up. Money is getting light, women might find that he’s the hottest sexist star. Drinking & drugging is not the healthiest so he stopped. It’s okay. He lived. He learned.
Good for Idris! I have an enormous amount of respect for anyone willing to admit they have some things about them that could use some therapy. Most people either live in a constant state of denial or point fingers at others to avoid having to face their own demons.
For a black man of any age to openly admit to need therapy, he has hit rock bottom. He has fucked up in every possible way and in a last ditch effort to get his life in order and be able to say that he tried, he entered therapy. This is promising and pathetic at the same time.
Sadly, for him to reach this point, he has damaged and destroyed many lives before he came to this realization.
I got some therapy to give him!
@9:24 it could be Drinking, Gambling, Smoking or MEN? Cause he said in Hollywood he’s rewarded for unhealthy acts. We know there’s a lot of homosexual activity in Hollywood
He’s got a great series running on Apple+ TV now… Hijack is so good. Love British tv and a fan of his. Hope he’s getting himself “fixed” to keep what and who he loves in his life worth keeping.
Therapy is very important in healing from trauma's. I am a Metaphysical therapist, we need therapist who are highly skilled spiritualist, who can not only assist others in healing mentally, but also ancestrally and spiritually. They need to include Metaphysical therapist in regular therapy healing. I do zoom meeting from home with my clients, I also speak to them via skype and phone.
@1214. I heard that!
