Lionel Richie says he's never gotten plastic surgery, claiming he maintains his youthful good looks by getting plenty of sleep, drinking a lot of water and working up a sweat in the bedroom...

The 73-year-old singer has managed to maintain the same youthful appearance for many years now - but despite the pressure stars face to stay young, Lionel insists you will never catch him going under the knife in an attempt to preserve his looks.
Speaking to DailyMail.com, the father-of-three revealed why he won't ever go down the same surgical route as many of his Hollywood contemporaries, explaining that he would hate not being able to return to his natural appearance after getting plastic surgery.
'[Plastic surgery] locks you in for that year [while you recover] - and after that you can't go naturally, you're staying right there... You try and go back to reset, and you can't,' he said, adding: '[And] that s*** goes wrong!'
And there's one other very important reason why the All Night Long singer wants to avoid undergoing an aesthetic procedure: 'God might not recognize me, so I want to make sure he knows me.'
Instead of surgery, Lionel - who has been in a relationship with Swiss-Caribbean model Lisa Parigi for more than a decade - said he prefers to focus on a much more natural approach to anti-aging, combining traditional methods like plenty of sleep and lots of water with another rather more risque activity: sex.
'Water, sleep, and sweat, not too much red meat,' he said when asked how he takes care of himself at the eighth annual Hollywood Beauty Awards. 'I know it's real boring. [Sex] will work also and it's good for your heart.'

With the plastic surgery he resembles a lion or Ron Pearlman from that ol school Beauty and the Beast TV show. It is obvious he has had lots of work done.
Getting fillers isn’t considered plastic surgery so I do believe him. The story should change to he needs to stop getting them. He may not have gone under the knife but he had many injections.

I grew up on Lionel. I can see the difference. Fillers give that overly puffy look. Like his face is swollen. It doesn’t look like he went under the knife where they pull back the skin.
Also fillers became accessible in the 80’s when he didn’t need it and was solo. He still looked normal after he left The Commodores. His face started changing and looking more puffy in the last 20 something years.
Lionel may not have had work done, it could just be aging. As we get older, sometimes our faces/cheeks, start to fill out more because of weight gain. But, like another poster mentioned, he could be getting fillers - which isn't plastic surgery - that's causing the changes in his face. A lot of celebrities like to play semantics when questioned about their appearances - Kylie Jenner claimed her lips were natural lol and that she never had surgery to enhance them- but later admitted to getting them filled in, and how fillers weren't the same as plastic surgery lol...so who knows.

Fillers for sure but us old heads know that LR always had Rocky Mountain skin issues. Now his face is smoother. I'm sure he's had lots of chemical peels over the years to close the craters.

Lionel had his nose and his chin done years ago. When Kenny Rogers got a face lift that completely changed his looks, Lionel opted for fillers instead. He looks swollen and over done.

As someone who works in aesthetics industry, I know a face full of fillers and toxin. No, it’s surgery…..but it’s still a medical procedure.
