They paid tribute to him this morning on the jazz show I listen to. I learned he loved & made comics. Also went to school w/ Amiri Baraka who used his name in his descriptive phrase 'WEIRD LIKE WAYNE'. R.I.P. Jazzman.
Wayne Shorter wasn’t on the album Kind of Blue but he was on the album Miles Smiles and Shorter was outstanding. He turned out Freedom Jazz Dance on Miles Smiles. Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ11cArknek.
Those were geniuses creating this original American music, but you’d never know it because they were Black musicians. If they were white they’d have movies, books, and monuments all over the place. Instead this country would rather praise Elvis.
