In his highly anticipated autobiography, Spare, Prince Harry recounts what he says was a physical attack by his brother, William, now Prince of Wales, as their relationship fell apart over the younger prince’s marriage to the actor Meghan Markle.
Describing a confrontation at his London home in 2019, Harry says William called Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”, which Harry calls a “parrot[ing of] the press narrative” about his American wife.
The confrontation escalated, Harry writes, until William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”.
The extraordinary scene, which Harry says resulted in visible injury to his back, is one of many in Spare, which will be published worldwide next week.
Spare is a remarkable volume, in which the altercation between the two princes forms a startling passage.
Harry writes that William wanted to talk about “the whole rolling catastrophe” of their relationship and struggles with the press. But when William arrived at Nottingham Cottage – where Harry was then living, in the grounds of Kensington Palace and known as “Nott Cott” – he was, Harry says, already “piping hot”.
After William complained about Meghan, Harry writes, Harry told him he was repeating the press narrative and that he expected better. But William, Harry says, was not being rational, leading to the two men shouting over each other.
Harry then accused his brother of acting like an heir, unable to understand why his younger brother was not content to be a spare.
Insults were exchanged, before William claimed he was trying to help.
Harry said: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”
That comment, Harry says, angered his brother, who swore while stepping towards him. Now scared, Harry writes, he went to the kitchen, his furious brother following.
Harry writes that he gave his brother a glass of water and said: “Willy, I can’t speak to you when you’re like this.”
He writes: “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
Harry writes that William urged him to hit back, citing fights they had as children. Harry says he refused to do so. William left, Harry says, then returned “looking regretful, and apologised”.
When William left again, his brother writes, he “turned and called back: ‘You don’t need to tell Meg about this.’
“‘You mean that you attacked me?’
“‘I didn’t attack you, Harold...’”

Kinda makes sense with all these so-called “royals” who have no other outlets to help process these normal emotions within families. Harry chose to get out of that by following an American who definitely would not/could not keep herself in that kind of lifestyle.

Harry said Meghan insulted Williams’s wife to her face telling her she had “baby brain” and “her hormones kept her from thinking right” about Catherine having postpartum, while Catherine was trying to help Meghan with the wedding. How you gonna insult somebody and they are trying to help you??? Catherine was hurt and said nothing, but William went to defend his wife and William told Harry Meghan was rude and abrasive and Harry took it all the way left because he didn’t want to listen. Now I don’t care that much for Catherine but you don’t tell a new mother she has “baby brain” and that her hormones keep her from thing right. Meghan wasn’t close enough to Catherine to say something like that to say that to her, and at that time Meghan had never had kids so she had no idea what Catherine was going through. She’s lucky Catherine don’t curse her out then and there. Especially when Meghan got pregnant and had postpartum and wanted one to feel sorry for her. So she lied on Oprah saying Catherine started it. Harry just admitted it in his own words Meghan lied. This is why I have a hard feeling sorry them because they have been caught in MULTIPLE lies.

I don’t think it’s girl to girl, remember the staff said Meghan was rude to them and would call them at 3 and 4 in the morning when they weren’t even working to scream at them about something she wanted. She went through like 6 staff members quitting because of her slick mouth and bad temperament. And then when they got to America they lost some more American staff for the same reason, slick mouth and bad temperament from them both.🤷🏽♀️
I think Meghan thought since Harry and William were brothers, that they were equal and that she could talk to people any kind of way and they had to just deal with it. Remember Harry said “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets” when she threw that temper tantrum about wanting to wear that crown that was already promised to Beatrice for her wedding. Beatrice is also the Queen’s grandchild just like Harry but because she is a blood Princess and grandchild she gets first choice over Meghan. Meghan threw a tantrum which set off Harry and the Queen had to step in and say “Meghan certainly does not get what she wants, she gets what I give her”. Harry never chose to correct Meghan in her bad behavior because in his mind and which he has said vocally “she’s just like Diana”, he is using her as a surrogate mom, and that’s just sad. Meghan is way smarter than Harry. Harry is gaslighting her so she thinks she can do what she wants and she’s playing him on his mommy issues because he never matured mentally pass a teenager it seems. Harry’s main complaint is that all of these negative Meghan stories were planted by William’s publicists to make Will & Kate look like the good guys. Meghan wouldn’t have said something that dumb to Kate. Doesn’t make sense.

William defended his wife by calling Meghan rude and abrasive, and Harry got mad, the two started calling each other names and it came to blows. This comes DIRECT FROM HARRY. So Meghan said it, according to her own husband. Which means they lied on Oprah saying Kate started it, when all the while it was Meghan’s slick mouth that started it all, that is direct from her husband’s book. The palace and the media did not release or say it, Harry did.

At 9:12 I hope that you don't mind me piggy backing off your comment and it is the truth. If Harry wanted to address racism in his country, look no further than the monarch. Matter of fact, some of our family trees lead right back to the monarch and this is no lie. Through slavery/european slave masters who came to the colonies and they themselves are descendants of the monarch some of us are directly tied to them. They/Some raped or had illicit affairs with our black ancestors during and after slavery. They can be traced directly to the monarch. I implore some of you to dig into your family tree and you will see the truth. You will see that many of you descend directly from the ancestors of the Monarch. The royal bloodline is only pure in name only. Generations of African and ethnic families have been affected through the dark deeds that have gone undiscussed for generations. Its time to unbury it and make amends to the descendants that were affected.
