Gladys Knight's Son Sentenced to Jail Time

Five years ago R&B singer Gladys Knight and Barry Hankerson's son Shanga was arrested after withholding payroll tax on the employees at his Atlanta chicken and waffles restaurant, but using the money to fund his lavish lifestyle instead of forwarding the money to the Feds [click here if you missed that]. 

Shanga has been sentenced to jail time...

According to reports Shanga Hankerson has been sentenced to two years in prison and one year of supervised release for "willful failure to remit payroll taxes."  

Hankerson pleaded guilty in July 2021 and was also ordered to pay $1 million in restitution.

Fun Fact: The same year his restaurant was raided by the Georgia Bureau of Revenue Shanga had been suing his mother, Gladys Knight, for the continued use of her name, claiming she was not mentally competent enough to terminate their agreement [click here if you missed that].
