Last year the mother of Kobe Bryant's widow, Sofia Laine, sued his estate for $5 million claiming Kobe promised to take care of her for the rest of her life, after her daughter, Vanessa Bryant, kicked her out of the house and cut her allowance [click here if you missed that].
Vanessa wants the case dismissed...
According to reports Vanessa Bryant filed a motion to have the case tossed out arguing that during a four year legal battle with her ex-husband over spousal support Sofia Laine insisted that her daughter and son-in-law had no obligation to take care of her and that any money they gave her was out of the kindness of their hearts. Vanessa also cited Sofia's public denial of tabloid reports that Vanessa and Kobe bought her a $1 million house where she was quoted saying, "She would never allow them to do such a thing."
Vanessa also shot down Sofia's claims that she was not allowed bathroom or meal breaks while caring for Vanessa and Kobe's daughters, arguing that Sofia was not their employee and was simply spending time with her grandchildren.
Sofia is basing her lawsuit on an alleged 'oral promise' from Kobe Bryant.
The case is ongoing.
