Two years ago singer / songwriter Tracy Chapman filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against rapper Nick Minaj after Nicki sent an unreleased track with an uncleared Tracy Chapman sample to a New York radio station [click here if you missed that].
Now the case is headed to trial...
This week a judge ruled against Tracy Chapman's assertion that the mere existence of the track constituted copyright infringement, but agreed Nicki leaking the track to a radio station was another issue completely.
Text messages between Nicki Minaj and Hot 97 DJ Funk Master Flex show a coordinated release and the single was also promoted on social media [click here if you missed that].
The case is now headed to trial.
