Last June director Lee Daniels admitted he no longer speaks to actor Jussie Smollett after the former 'Empire' star staged a hate crime hoax in Chicago, setting off a chain of events that led to the cancelation of 'Empire' and 'Star' on Fox [click here if you missed that].
Turns out Jussie and Lee were having problems long before that...
Insiders tell Page Six Lee Daniels and Jussie Smollett had a frosty relationship on the set of 'Empire' because Jussie would go over Lee's head and complain to Fox execs about their creative differences.
The source claims Lee and Jussie clashed after Jussie refused to work with R. Kelly for the show.
