Jussie Smollett Settlement Talks Break Down
Back in April the City of Chicago filed a $130,000 lawsuit against actor Jussie Smollett after he allegedly staged a hate crime hoax [click here if you missed that].
Jussie's attempt to settle the case has failed...
This week a status report submitted to the federal court revealed Jussie's camp discussed settling with the city but negotiations broke down and now the case is likely headed to trial next summer.
The status report also reveals Jussie is considering legal action against the city for "their conduct underlying the arrest and their conduct thereafter."
The trial is expected to begin in June 2020 and last two or three days.
Fun Fact: A special prosecutor has been appointed to re-open the case after the Cook County Prosecutor dropped all 16 charges against Jussie [click here if you missed that].
