The off-duty Harris County Sheriff's deputy was arrested around 3 am Monday morning after calling 911 to report shots fired at his home.
Patricia Spivey was found dead from a gunshot wound, while Renard had been shot in the leg. The deputy initially claimed the shooting was an accident.
Police determined the couple had been in a domestic dispute over his steroid use and cheating earlier that evening and he was booked on murder charges.
