Earlier this month pop star Madonna testified against director Lee Daniels in the $10 million defamation of character lawsuit filed by Sean Penn after Lee claimed Sean assaulted Madonna back in the 80s [click here if you missed that].
Did Madonna lie under oath to help Sean win his case..?
From Star Magazine [Jan. 4, 2016 print edition]
After reconciling with her ex earlier this year, Madonna spoke out on Dec. 18 in support of Sean Penn in his defamation suit against Lee Daniels, who Penn claims has falsely accused him of hitting women. “While we certainly had more than one heated argument during out marriage, Sean has never struck me, ‘tied me up’ or physically assaulted me,” the singer told the court.
The police, however, beg to differ. In 1988, Sean allegedly bound and gagged his then-estranged wife in her Malibu mansion for 9 hours. After escaping, Madonna called for help. “Her lip was bleeding and she had obviously been struck,” Malibu Lt. Bill McSweeny said at the time. So, why did Madonna take it all back? Both Madonna and Penn have long denied the rumors with Madonna telling Rolling Stone three months after the incident,
“They made it all up. But I expect it. They’re always making s - - t up.”and Sean telling Playboy in 1991,
“It was a great disappointment to some of my more perverse acquaintances . . . that it hadn’t occurred.”
