Last week Laurence Fishburne's 80-year-old mother gave an interview to the NY Post claiming she was on the verge of being evicted after her famous son inexplicably turned his back on her [click here if you missed that].
Apparently this is a trick Mama Fisburne pulls every twenty years or so…
A little birdie dropped this nugget in the comment section of the last post about Laurence Fishburne's mother linking to a nearly identical tale Hattie Fisburne spun for the New York Daily News back in 1994.
At the time Ms. Hattie, who was working as an adjunt professor at the College of New Rocelle in New York and claiming to be six months behind on her rent, was quoted telling the Daily News,
“To be Black, female, old and poor is not how I envisioned my life...”
“While most sons look out for their mothers, my son lost his perspective among the sycophantic and bombastic swirl of the Hollywood lifestyle. If one single mother can guide a son from birth to the Academy Award, then one son can look out for one mother.”
