Estate Wants T.I. Added to Blurred Lines Lawsuit
Earlier this month Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke were ordered to pay $7.4 million to the Estate of Marvin Gaye for copying Gaye's 1977 hit single 'Got to Give it Up' for their 2013 hit single 'Blurred Lines [click here if you missed that].'
Now the estate wants to add rapper T.I. to the lawsuit…
When the case first went to trial T.I.'s name was not included because his rap verse was added to the track after the song was "written" by Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke.
After the verdict the estate filed paperwork to hold T.I. and Interscope Records responsible for the copyright infringement as well. The suit initially named only Williams, Thicke and Williams' publishing company.
The Estate of Marvin Gaye has also filed an injunction to halt sales of 'Blurred Lines' until publishing credits have been negotiated.
