According to Radar Online Drake contacted BET Awards Show producers on Sunday, just hours before show time, and told them he was not coming.
Rumors quickly spread that Drake was avoiding his arch enemy Chris Brown, also a scheduled performer.
Drake still managed to win the top prize taking home Video of the Year for Started From the Bottom and Best Collaboration for F**kin' Problems ft. 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar.
Chris Brown won the Fandemonium Award, for the artist with the most supportive fans, for the fourth year in a row.
