Last week professional tennis player Maria Sharapova branded Serena Williams a home wrecker after Serena was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine making slick comments about Maria's current romantic situation [click here if you missed that].
Turns out Maria was being especially nasty because Serena had already apologized...
At Serena Williams' Pre-Wimbledon news conference in London on Sunday Serena was asked about Maria's response to her comments in Rolling Stone and Serena replied,
"When the article came out...I made it a point to reach out to Maria because she was inadvertently brought into a situation by assumptions made by the reporter."
“I personally talked to Maria, at the player party, incidentally. I said, 'Look, I want to personally apologize to you if you are offended by being brought into my situation. I want to take this moment to just pour myself, be open, say I'm very sorry for this whole situation.'"
