Last month William Balfour requested a new trial in his murder case on the grounds that Jennifer Hudson's fame prejudiced the jury [click here if you missed that].
The judge is expected to make his ruling at a hearing today and if the new trial request is denied Balfour may be sentenced at that time.
William Balfour is accused of going on his deadly 2008 murder spree after finding out his estranged wife Julia Hudson was seeing another man.
