Red Tails Comes Up Big

Red Tails raked in $19 million over the weekend, exceeding studio expectations...

The George Lucas produced 'Red Tails', directed by Anthony Hemingway, details the exploits of the legendary all Black squadron of World War II fighter pilots, The Tuskegee Air Men. Red Tails was not expected to do well at the box office because of it's all black cast and George Lucas has been very vocal about Hollywood's refusal to green-light the film and his ultimate decision to fund it himself. The screenplay was written by 'Boondocks' Aaron McGrugder and John Ridley and stars Terrence Howard, Nate Parker, Tristan Wilds, Cuba Gooding Jr, David Oyelowo and Ne-Yo.
