Free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens turned 38 years old two days ago, but there is another date in December that he allegedly forgot: Dec. 1, the day his child support payment was due.
According to a petition for contempt filed Friday in Fulton County Superior Court, Owens has not made his $5,000 monthly payment for December to Melanie Paige Smith, his young daughter's mother.
This is the third petition for contempt against Owens in the past six months for failure to pay child support, the paperwork indicated. Owens caught up on his payments and avoided jail in September.
Owens, a Fulton County resident, is still looking to catch on with an NFL team this season after playing for the Cincinnati Bengals last season. Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said one team is "very interested" in his client, ESPN.com reported Nov. 27.
In May 2007, Owens was ordered to pay child support for the daughter he had with Smith, of Atlanta.
