Buju Banton was convicted of conspiracy to possess, with the intent to distribute cocaine back in February [click here if you missed that]. This was Buju's second trial because his first trial ended in a hung jury after it was revealed that the informant had received $50,000.00 from the Fed for setting up the deal [click here if you missed that].
The most damning piece of evidence used against Buju in court was a video of him inspecting a coke shipment, tasting it with his finger and calling it 'fish scale'.
After his sentencing BuJu released the following statement,
“The days that lie ahead are filled with despair, but I have courage and grace and I'm hopeful, and that is sufficient to carry me through."With good behavior he could be out in six years.
