Don't Let The Smooth Taste Fool You

Regardless of the flowery 'We are Family' press releases issued by Beyonce and her father regarding their split, make no mistake Mathew Knowles is steaming over their break up...

From the Chicago Sun Times
Despite all the nice-nice statements by Beyonce and her father, Matthew Knowles — about the superstar dropping her dad as her manager — there’s word that the professional split had a not-so-pleasant personal aspect.

While Papa Knowles — who has managed his daughter’s career since the beginning, back in the Destiny’s Child days — issued a statement calling the decision “mutual,” I’m hearing Beyonce’s father was very unhappy about it.

“These statements are all about saving face — for Matthew,” said a source close to the Knowles clan, who claims the move was strongly supported and somewhat orchestrated by Beyonce’s music mogul husband, Jay-Z. It is thought that the singer and actress will soon place her career in the hands of her hubby’s Roc Nation management company.

Matthew Knowles will continue to manage his daughter Solange’s career. She is expected to release a new album later this year.

For her part, Beyonce said, “I’ve only parted ways with my father on a business level. He is my father for life and I love my dad dearly. I am grateful for everything he has taught me.”

† Along with various disagreements over Matthew’s decisions affecting Beyonce’s professional life, this split supposedly almost happened when details of his cheating on Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, surfaced in 2009. A paternity test proved that Matthew had fathered a child with a mistress, and Tina filed for divorce — but withdrew that petition late last year.

† More recently, the embarrassing headlines about Beyonce performing for Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s family “was just the final nail in the coffin,” said my source.

† As for Matthew Knowles, he said, “Business is business and family is family. I love my daughter and am very proud of who she is and all she has achieved.”
