Remember last year when German pop star Nadja Beanaissa was arrested for concealing her HIV status from her lovers? [click here and here if you missed that] Well, Nadja has confessed and apologized.
Nadja, who contracted the infection as teen, appeared in court two days ago to face charges of attempted aggravated assault and grievous bodily harm after one of her lovers tested positive for HIV. Dude testified in court that he and Nadja had unprotected sex six or seven times in 2004 before ending their sexual relationship, but remained friends. He didn't find out Nadja's status until one of her aunts let the cat out of the bag. He also claims Nadja and her record label tried to buy his silence after he became infected.
Nadja testified that she was "careless during those days" and "was sorry with all her heart" and her lawyer read a prepared statement from Nadja which read,
'It was said to me that the probability of me passing on the virus was practically zero.Nadja explained to the court that she was a crack addicted 14 year old who found out her HIV status when she became pregnant at 16.
'Therefore I also concealed the fact that I was infected to my acquaintances.
'I did not want my daughter to be branded by this. I told the band members because I trusted them. I never made it public because I thought that would mean the end of the band.'
