Jill Counters

Ok so remember when Jill Scott's record label, Hidden Beach, filled a breach of contract lawsuit against her [click here if you missed that]? Well, Jill's filed her counter complaint.
In her complaint Jill accuses Hidden Beach of gross mis-management of her career costing her millions in damages. Jill says Hidden Beach broke promises regarding promotion, staffing, compensation and recording budgets. She also asserts Hidden Beach
“In a bizarre and unlawful attempt to hold on to Ms. Scott’s name…Hidden Beach has launched and continues to operate a “Jill Scott” website, a “Jill Scott” Facebook page, and a “Jill Scott” MySpace page.”
Jill, who has recorded for Hidden Beach for 11 years, is trying to get out of her contract based on California’s 7-Year Rule,  which says no contract for personal services (including a recording contract) is enforceable for more than seven years.
