i volunteered at a boys & girls club and i can say that its one of the greatest organizations for latch key kids. they help with homework and they open when the schools are closed so parents can drop their kids off and go to work. they also only charge $25 a year. i wish i had went when i was a kid and i plan on sending my child. i'm happy and proud that denzel did this.
repent, the boys & g club i volunteered at was in a black neighborhood and my friend is the head of one that's in a black neighborhood. they also pick kids up from school, some school busses drop the kids off there, and they even have a van to drop some kids off at home if their parents can't come get them. i think a lot of black parents don't take their kids there because they don't know about it. but its heaven on earth and if i ever get rich, i'd donate a lot of money. its a gift to every child and neighborhood it serves.
All my school aged kids go to the same neighborhood BGCA that I went to.
$75/yr for a family. $50 otherwise. They charge $8 dollars a kid when school is out and thats from 7am-7pm.
I cant begin to say enough about the BGC of America. Please if you have kids, sign them up! Especially your teens. Our club has had the biggest influx of teens cause parents aint with that home alone shit in this day and age.

um, repent my parents were MARRIED for six years, had good jobs, and living in a house THEY OWNED before i was even conceived. second, for kids that have parents that work all of the dang time and have no guidance it IS heaven on earth. i saw a lot of kids that didn't have daddies at home and the men at the club served as role models to them. the girls were taught to carry themselves like ladies. i don't even think this is the real repent for making such an ignorant assessment of my statement, but if you really are wasting your time driving around looking for a b&g club, how about you drive around with some sandwiches and feed some hungry people on the corner?
This is really good news. I wish more celebrities (and regular folk too) would donate $$ and volunteer their time for charities and non-profits. B&G Club is a great organization, especially for working class families. Most of them are located in poorer neighborhoods because they serve families that can't afford other child care.
As for Denzel, I truly believe he is a good man. He and his wife walk the walk. I did hear a little something about him stepping out on his wife, but hell even MLK and JFK were unfaithful. *sigh*
