Tomi Rae Hynie says she was at a retreat when James died and when she returned home, found the gate padlocked. She was told James' lawyer and accountant had forbade her access.
Tomi Rae and James Brown were never legally married. At the time of their marriage in 2001, Tomi Rae was already married to a man in Texas. Her marriage to James was annulled. After she divorced her first husband, she and James never remarried.
