Not long after news of the production broke Marvin Gaye's son, Marvin III, voiced his displeasure about the project, claiming it only focused on the low parts of his father's life [click here if you missed that].
This week it was announced that Lenny Kravitz was no longer attached to the project and that Marvin Gaye would now be played by actor Jessie L. Martin.
